Hockey’s Better started with a few fun sweaters for a group of hockey moms. It quickly became something much bigger than I ever imagined.

We're a hockey apparel and lifestyle brand for the people who spend their lives in arenas, live for tournament weekends, survive on rink coffee, and wouldn't trade the chaos of hockey life for anything.

From bold sweatshirts and T-shirts to hats, beanies, socks, and accessories, we create products that let hockey moms, dads, grandparents, and rink rats show off their hockey personality with a little extra attitude.

We're here for the ones who know that hockey isn't just a sport. It's a lifestyle!

How It All Started

I'm Kristen Watson, the founder of Hockey’s Better, a busy mom of three, a hockey mom, and someone who has always loved getting creative with fun designs.

At home, two of my boys play rep hockey, which means we're at the rink six or seven days a week, all while my husband and I run a real estate team. Life is busy, to say the least!

Hockey’s Better wasn't originally some big business plan. It started with me making fun hockey sweaters for a group of moms on one of my sons' former teams. I loved coming up with designs that made people laugh, showed off our hockey-mom personalities, and gave us something fun to wear at the rink.

Then one day in January 2026, I shared a post featuring one of my new designs. Later that night, I checked my phone and couldn't believe how many likes and comments the post had received.

But as I read through the comments, I noticed something that really got under my skin. People were claiming my original design as their own and offering to make it for others. I had personally created that design, and seeing someone else take credit for it didn't sit right with me.

I told my husband what was happening, and he gave me a simple piece of advice: stop letting other people take the opportunity and start your own online store. Put your designs out there and sell them across North America.

So, naturally, I stayed up all night building the store!

I uploaded some of my new designs, added others I'd already created, and Hockey’s Better was officially underway.

What started as something fun for a few moms at the rink was suddenly turning into a brand of its own.

From Our Rink to Yours

I honestly never expected things to move as quickly as they have.

Since launching in January 2026, Hockey’s Better has reached hockey fans far beyond our own arena. Our brand is now carried by major hockey retailers in the United States, along with select professional hockey shops and local sporting goods stores. We've also built relationships with other brands that support our work and share our enthusiasm for the hockey community.

And we're still just getting started.

Every time I see someone wearing one of our designs at an arena, or spot a group of parents from different teams standing together having a laugh in Hockey’s Better gear, it reminds me why I started this in the first place.

It still blows my mind that something I began for fun has grown into this.

We're Not Your Typical Hockey Apparel Brand

Let's be honest: hockey life is busy, loud, emotional, expensive, and sometimes downright ridiculous. And we think the apparel should reflect that!

Hockey’s Better is about being a little more vocal, a little more playful, and not being afraid to make a statement. Our designs are created for people who love hockey, embrace the madness, and want to show a little personality while they're cheering from the stands.

We believe you shouldn't have to choose between being comfortable, warm, and stylish. Whether you're watching a late-night practice, spending your weekend at a tournament, or cheering through an entire season, we want you to have gear that feels like you.

We're always working on new designs and products for all the people who make hockey happen: the moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, and yes, even the rink rats.

Because there's more than one way to be a hockey parent, and we're here for all of it.

One of my favourite things about hockey is the people you meet along the way.

Between development sessions, camps, tournaments, and endless hours at the rink, our family has met so many incredible parents and kids from different teams. It's become a huge part of our lives, and next year, we're hoping our daughter will be joining the hockey world, too!

The hockey community has a way of bringing people together. We experience the excitement, the nerves, the wins, the losses, the early mornings, the late nights, and all the emotions in between. No matter which team you're cheering for, so many of us understand exactly what the person beside us is going through.

That's the feeling we want Hockey’s Better to capture.

Some of our designs let you show everyone exactly what kind of hockey mom you are. Others simply make people smile. And when another Hockey’s Better fan spots you wearing one of our pieces, there's a good chance you'll share a laugh, exchange a knowing look, or strike up a conversation.

Those little moments matter to us.

We're not just trying to put more apparel in the stands. We want to help create a community where hockey families recognize one another, connect, and feel like they're part of something bigger.

Meet Kristen

I'm Kristen Watson, the creator behind Hockey’s Better.

When I'm not creating designs or working on the brand, I'm usually juggling family life, running our real estate business with my husband, or doing what hockey parents do best: living at the rink!

I built Hockey’s Better around something I genuinely love: the hockey lifestyle and the fun, relatable personalities that come with it.

I'm hands-on with the creativity, and I love finding new ways to bring a little humour, personality, and style into the lives of hockey families. I never set out expecting to build a brand that would reach so many people. I simply wanted to make something fun that other hockey moms would love wearing.

Now, seeing where that idea has taken us is one of the most exciting parts of the journey.
